Product information

Identify the exact product and package variant.

Company name *Business contact email *Company websiteProduct name *Brand *UPC / EAN barcode *Product categoryProduct type (food or non-food)

What does this mean?

Choose Food for foods and beverages regulated as food. Choose Non-food for other products. This determines which Canadian-origin claim guidance applies.

Choose Food or Non-food to see the relevant Canadian government origin-claim guidance. Do not choose a Canadian origin claim unless you can support it.

Specific product type (e.g. ketchup, coffee, headphones, tablet)

What does this mean?

Enter one specific food or non-food product type, such as lasagna, ketchup, coffee, headphones, tablet_computer, or laundry_detergent. Use lowercase letters and underscores for multiple words. Avoid broad categories such as groceries or electronics.

Search keywords (optional)

What does this mean?

Optional: Enter up to 10 relevant search terms or phrases, separated by commas. Example: wireless, bluetooth, over-ear, noise cancelling. These help reviewers find comparable products; they do not determine whether a product is an equivalent alternative.

Canadian Ownership & Control

Declare ownership of the ultimate parent company. Our team verifies control independently.

Canadian ownership / control

What does this mean?

Is the ultimate parent company Canadian-owned and controlled? A Canadian brand or office alone does not establish Canadian ownership. Select Unknown if you cannot substantiate the answer.

Canadian Product Origin

Provide manufacturing location and the precise Canadian-origin claim, if any.

Country of manufacture *Canadian product origin claim

What does this mean?

Choose Food or Non-food to see the relevant Canadian government origin-claim guidance. Do not choose a Canadian origin claim unless you can support it.

Exact Canadian origin claim on product label (including qualifications)

What does this mean?

Copy the exact wording used on this product's packaging or advertising, including qualifications such as 'Made in Canada from imported ingredients' or 'with domestic and imported parts'. If there is no Canadian origin claim, leave blank and select Neither claim or Unknown above.

Imported ingredients that cannot reasonably be sourced in Canada (optional)

What does this mean?

Optional: list each unavoidable imported ingredient (for example, coffee beans or bananas). Do not list ingredients only because Canadian sources cost more. These are claims for independent review, not automatic points.

Imported ingredients are not automatically exempt. Substantial Canadian manufacturing and commercial unavailability must be verified by our review team.

Why Canadian sourcing is not commercially feasible (evidence / source URLs)

What does this mean?

Describe Canadian commercial availability, why suitable Canadian sources cannot be used, and provide supporting links. The Buy Canadian App must independently verify any exception.

Canadian Headquarters

Identify the company's Canadian headquarters or verified Canadian offices.

Canadian headquarters & offices

What does this mean?

Select global HQ in Canada, a Canadian division HQ, or a verified Canadian corporate/subsidiary office. A mail drop or third-party distributor does not qualify.

Canadian Employment & Operations

Choose an approximate Canadian employee range and identify your company's real operations in Canada. Supporting evidence helps us verify the claims.

Approximately how many people does your company employ in Canada?

Canadian employees only. A rough range is fine; choose “Not sure” if unavailable.

Which operations does the company actually have in Canada? (Select all that apply)

Only select operations with a real Canadian presence. Selecting “Head office” here does not automatically qualify the company for headquarters points.

Supporting evidence (optional)

All selections are manufacturer declarations. Our review team checks supporting information before any connection is published.
